This event will be a fundraiser for local organizations (schools, social clubs, sports teams, Little Leagues, neighborhood associations...). If we break the record, the team/organization bringing the most bikes will receive a $5,000 donation. If we don't break the record, the Wilmington Grand Prix still guarantees a minimum of $2,500 to the team/organization having the most bikes complete the race. There will also be a random $500 drawing for a participating team/organization.

To be eligible for the donation teams must be affiliated with a legally-recognized non-profit organization and complete our registration form. The registration fee for the parade is $5 per person. Each participant will receive a T-shirt.

To participate in the "World's Largest Bike Parade" record attempt
you must:

  1. Have your own bike and helmet.
  2. Be able to ride 2.1 miles without assistance. (Trailers may be pulled but will not count towards the record.)
  3. Arrive at the surface parking lot adjacent to JP Morgan Chase (2nd & King streets) by 1 p.m. (Feel free to enjoy the nearby bike race activities from Noon to 1 p.m.)

In 2007, nearly 500 bike riders came together in Wilmington and fell just short of breaking the world record.  The Downtown YMCA, MS Society
and the Wilmington Skate Project were the happy beneficiaries
of the cash prizes

* If you wish to participate in the bike parade but do not wish to represent a team, you do not have to complete the registration form and pay the $5 registration fee. Simply arrive at the JP Morgan Chase parking lot by 1 p.m.
